The objective of the Women’s Council shall be to promote good will, loyalty and friendship among its members and to assist the Home Builders Association when called upon. The Council Members strive to obtain more attractive housing and promote the objectives of the total home building
industry through local, state, national and legislative involvement. The Council also provides annual college scholarships for female students studying in industry related fields or careers.
The MOBA Women's Council is very active in the community through scholarships, education and philanthropy programs.
Building Homes of Our Own:
An award-winning, first-of-its-kind CD-ROM teaching tool that brings real-life context to classroom lessons. It is designed to create an educational experience for middle and high school classrooms that delivers the level of quality kids are accustomed to in computer games. This CD-ROM
provides a simulation of the entire home building experience from choosing a lot to selling the home to a qualified buyer. Students work within a fixed budget to design and build a home, solve real-life problems, make important decisions and use time and money management skills, all in a
fun environment that reinforces math, science, social studies and language arts lessons.
Tommy Tree:
The Tommy Tree program is in it's 14th year in the Omaha area. Each April, members of the MOBA Women's Council deliver 2,500 trees to third graders across the Omaha
Metro Area. This program provides the children with valuable information about trees, how they grow, products that are generated from trees and how trees effect the environment. A video featuring a tree that wanted to grow up to be a "home" presents the children with a learning
tool, as well as entertainment. A Tommy Tree bookmark is also given to the students to remind them of the three "Rs" Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. This program has enabled more than 25,000 trees to be planted in the metro area.
Women's Council members work in all aspects of the building industry — as owners, managers, marketing experts, interior designers, and mortgage bankers. They are employed by all types of industry-related businesses.
